Alameda D. Afonso Henriques, 41

Located near the Instituto Superior Técnico and the Alameda metro station, this building, completed in 1944, reflects the architectural style used in all the buildings on the road.

This building was designed by the architect Porfírio Pardal Monteiro, a major figure in Portuguese architecture. His work, marked by its large-scale and monumentality, includes historic buildings such as the Cais do Sodré Station, the Instituto Superior Técnico and the National Institute of Statistics, the maritime stations of Alcântara and Rocha do Conde de Óbidos and the Ritz and Tivoli hotels.

He received various distinctions, including five Valmor Awards, for the building in Av. da República, 49 (1923), the Vale Flor palace (1928), the house in Av. 5 de Outubro, 207-215 (1929), the church of N. Sra. de Fátima (1938) and the Diário de Notícias building (1940).
